Personalised One-on-One English Lessons for Mandarin-Speaking Learners
One-on-one English lessons designed around your specific goals, delivered online by a tutor who speaks your language and understands your background.
Each course is built from scratch based on a detailed needs analysis. Rather than working through a generic textbook, lessons focus on the language you actually need — whether that's navigating an airport, handling a business meeting, or preparing for an academic presentation.
All teaching materials are developed in-house and provided bilingually in English and Traditional Chinese, so you always have clear reference points in your own language.
Every course begins with a conversation about your goals, your current level, and the situations where you need English. This shapes everything that follows — the topics covered, the pace, and the balance between speaking, listening, reading, and vocabulary.
Based on the needs analysis, I design a course tailored to you. Each session comes with a complete set of materials: a structured worksheet, a bilingual vocabulary reference sheet, and supplementary activities. You receive materials in advance so you can prepare at your own pace.
Sessions are one hour, delivered online via video call or in person by arrangement. Lessons combine structured practice with realistic role-play scenarios, supported by authentic audio and video from real-world contexts. Chinese is available throughout for explanations and clarification — the goal is confident communication, not immersion for its own sake.
Practical English for independent travel, designed for adult beginners and lower-level learners. Covers the situations you're most likely to encounter: airports and check-in, shopping, dining, hotels, and getting around. The emphasis is on usable phrases and listening confidence — including practice with the varied accents and speaking styles you'll encounter in real-world travel.
Courses can be designed for learners at any level, from beginner through to advanced, and around any goal. Whether you need professional English for the workplace, support with academic writing, exam preparation, or something else entirely — please get in touch to discuss.
Rates depend on the course type and any materials development required. Please enquire for a quote based on your specific goals.
Any level, including complete beginners. Courses are designed around your current ability, and Chinese is available throughout for support. There is no minimum level required.
Most lessons are held online via video call (Google Meet). You don't need to install anything or create an account — just click the link I send you before each session. In-person sessions can also be arranged on request.
As much or as little as you need. Chinese is always available for explanations, vocabulary, and clarification. The aim is to build your confidence in English, not to create unnecessary pressure. As your level improves, the balance naturally shifts toward more English.
Most students find weekly sessions work well, giving enough time to review materials between lessons. However, the schedule is flexible and can be adjusted to suit your availability.
Each session comes with a bilingual worksheet and vocabulary reference sheet, sent to you before the lesson. Additional materials such as supplementary exercises or homework readings are provided as needed. All materials are designed specifically for your course — they are not taken from textbooks.
Lesson times are flexible and arranged to suit your schedule. Please mention your preferred times when you get in touch.
